How to Organize and Stock a JennAir Beverage Center 1

JennAir beverage centers offer flexible storage for drinks and entertaining supplies. Learn how to organize your unit for maximum capacity and best cooling performance.

JennAir Beverage Center Features

JennAir under-counter beverage centers are designed to store a variety of drinks at optimal serving temperature — sodas, water, beer, juice, and wine. Unlike a dedicated wine cooler, a beverage center typically operates at slightly cooler temperatures and offers adjustable shelving to accommodate different container sizes. Most JennAir beverage centers include glass shelves, adjustable racks, and LED interior lighting.

Optimal Temperature Setting

  • General beverages (soda, water, juice, beer): 36 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit
  • If storing some wine: set to 45 degrees Fahrenheit as a compromise — cooler than ideal for red wine but acceptable for whites and suitable for other beverages
  • Do not set below 34 degrees Fahrenheit — beverages can freeze and burst, damaging the unit

Organizing for Maximum Capacity

  1. Adjust shelf heights — JennAir beverage centers have adjustable shelves that can be repositioned to accommodate tall bottles, cans, or cartons. Remove or lower a shelf to create a tall zone for wine bottles or two-liter containers.
  2. Use the door racks — door shelves are ideal for cans and small bottles. Organize by type: beer on one shelf, soda on another, water bottles on a third.
  3. Lay wine bottles horizontally — if your beverage center has a wire rack section, use it for wine to keep corks moist. If no rack is included, do not stack wine bottles more than two high to prevent rolling.
  4. Group by frequency of access — place the most commonly grabbed items at eye level or on the door. Less frequently needed items go on the bottom shelf.
  5. Leave space for airflow — do not pack the unit so tightly that air cannot circulate. Leave at least a half inch between items and the back wall where the cold air enters.

Stocking Tips

  • Let warm beverages cool to room temperature before loading them into the beverage center. Placing a case of warm soda directly from the car into the unit forces the compressor to work overtime and temporarily raises the temperature for existing contents.
  • Remove outer packaging — take cans and bottles out of cardboard boxes before storing. Cardboard insulates the drinks from cold air and takes up unnecessary space.
  • Keep the unit at 60-75% capacity — a moderately full beverage center maintains temperature better than an empty or overstuffed one. The thermal mass of the beverages helps stabilize temperature during door openings.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Wipe shelves with warm soapy water monthly. Glass shelves can be removed and washed in the sink.
  • Clean spills immediately — sticky soda or juice residue attracts mold and can stain the interior.
  • Vacuum the condenser coils (usually behind the toe-kick grille) every six months to maintain efficient cooling.
  • Check the door gasket for debris and clean with a damp cloth to ensure a proper seal.
